Hey All,
I've just bought my second TX. Back in the mid 90's in the UK a mate of mine had this bike that nobody really knew of. It kept dropping a cylinder & I kept tweaking the points for him but in the end he chose to swap his US import TX for a box of several Honda 250 Super Dreams I had at the time. I couldn't do the deal fast enough!!
So I stripped the TX down to restore it, had the tank, side panels, headlight shell painted, then I went overseas & put all my bikes in a shed. Whilst traveling in Australia where TX's were imported to in 97' (so not widespread internet info) I tracked down parts where I could, boxed them up to ship back to the UK but they never made it. Ten years later I sold the TX as a project & moved back down under.
It must've always bugged me not finishing the bike - I remember it's chunky looks & the thump of the twin pot 360° crank on cheap generic custom silencers so I just bought another one. I haven't seen it yet, it's at a mate's place until I can arrange to go pick it up but it's a three day (or 6 cartons of beer in Aussie speak) drive each way to get it. It needs some parts which I'd like to ask about on here & I remember with the old bike I had ideas to modify the oil system by cutting the filter mounting plate & welding/brazing on some nipples to fix pipes to run to a remote oil filter & also to set up some kind of tensioner guide on the primary & starter chains.
But I see on here that a lot of this stuff has since been sorted/upgraded & although I know it's going over old ground I'd really like to be able to clarify some of this stuff with anyone who might be up for helping.
