Hello members, just some info regarding balancer chain issues, i have replaced 3 now in two years and not one has done much over a 1000 miles, i ride fairly hard not prolonged cruising, the previous replacements have been nos from speed and sport so exspensive with shipping, i have now found a chain kit by febi belstien with a 5 year warranty, its to suit bmw engines x5 included and is german made as the original chain system failed too early,i bought a second hand set first to check dimensions etc and found it to be perfect so purchased a new set for £73 83 plus postage, the rollers are approx 50 percent larger in diameter and have lubrication holes and the bonus is the smaller timing chain in the set is correct in detail for the cam chain, the smaller chain comes with a joining link so you just cut to length to suit but the larger dia chain is endless so u cut to suit and i just had two pins made for a joining link and riveted on application, i replace my chains from underneath the bike and feed the new on with the old, takes about 2 hours so no big job, the febi belstein kit has a code no 69529 and is real quality, a far stronger product and very well engineered, the second hand one i purchased had done 80,000 miles and when i placed it laterally beside the new one there was not a great deal of difference, mine is performing well and i have not even had to adjust it since installing, hope this helps you all, too exspensive and frequent with the old type, regards miller
