Picked up another 73’ today. This one is a fairly early US model having a build date of 9/72 according to the decal on the neck (last one didn’t have that). Found this on Facebook Marketplace for $500, negotiated to $350. 26k miles. It is complete, with carbs, airbox, and side panel in a box. Kicks over and electric start works. Has the extended sump as well as the oil cooler which my other one didn’t have. The plan: My wife decided this summer that she wants to learn to ride so we have done a few sessions on my Kawasaki Drifter but none of the three bikes I have fit her very well. The Harley is too powerful for her to feel comfortable and my other TX750 “Balls Out” (see Photos section) is not laid out well for her and is a hard tail (not for a beginner). I have been patiently searching for a good bike for her with an upright riding position when this popped up so I jumped on it. I’m just now getting ready to tear down the Harley for customization over this winter but I’m hoping to have time to get this new bike mechanically overhauled by next spring. Unlike my other TX which is heavily modified, I plan for this one to be a restoration, however, I’m not going to do any of the cosmetic restoration until she has learned to ride so she does not feel self conscious about scratching or even dumping it. So for now there’s not much to report but I will update as I get into it.
