I have just read an interesting article on the TX750 in the current issue of "Classic Motorcycle Mechanics". Apparently the chain from a Mini Cooper has the same pitch and will fit the TX750 counter balancer. This comes as some relief as my late 1972 still has the non adjustable version. I understand the original counter balance chains can cost around £150+ that's if you can even find one! On that basis I thought to share this information with the group. Sorry, I'm not sure if it was a diesel or petrol Mini Cooper. It may well be the same as VW, as the new Mini Cooper is built by BMW, so I am sure they must share some parts?

What mini Cooper diesel or petrol Elsewhere someone claimed it was not a Mini Cooper chain but a VW chain. Until someone posts a picture or a part number I take all claims with a grain of salt.

tip from Hans D., TX750-driver, metal specialist and technical tinkerer from Austria (2022,sept): Of course, it is better to remove the engine ,Remove the oil pan, push the 3.5 mm chain pin through to the outer plate with a punch, hang in the new chain, push in the old pin - do not rivet it, screw in the new chain until the old one is out and remove it.Now rivet the new chain to the new pin, use a shaft approx. 30 mm in diameter to hold the pin in place, drill a 4.5 mm hole 20 mm deep in the front, and finally turn the motor over completely once. Chain DIN 06BH (1 x 5 m), ISO 9001, ISO 14001, approx. Euro 85,-(2022, austria), brand "DONGHUA CHAIN GROUP" (http://www.dhchain.com/ Supplier in Austria www.nilsson.co.at- the chain with this number could of course also exist from other producers (IWIS?).

I hinted that information by mistake, it was years ago and I didn`t remember correctly what I used. In fact, it was a VW Beetle chain, not a Mini. I bought two, split and linked them to size. The point is that it needs to be an IWIS chain that matches the size of the original Yamaha but stronger. The same chain is used in the BMW 530D, different in length of course. The VW uses a short chain to connect the two camshafts, I bought two of those and linked.
