Hello everyone, I am at the end of my TX 750 rebuild. The bike runs pretty well when engine is hot, nevertheless I am wondering if it is necessary to sync the carbs and if yes, how can we do that as the TX has two accelerator cables (while on XS 650 there is only one accelerator cable and a special screw to sync the throttle). Would someone have some informations to help me please? By the way: does your TX start easily when the engine is cold? With mine it is a little bit difficult. Thank you

Hi,
Synching the carbs on a TX is not an easy one because you can`t measure the vacuum with synching gauges easily. I think the way I did it once was that I removed the carbs and with the cables intact I set the throttles to be opened exactly the same extent. You can do this if you just remove the airbox, lift the piston and inspect the throttle opening from behind. It`s not ideal, maybe someone else will chime in with a better solution.

Remove the screw n the side of your carb and connect your vacuum hoses. Set idle and adjust synch, Then rev to about 2000 rpm and keep steady. Adjust throttle cables so that they show same vacuum.

My tips for carb sync: 1. Warm the engine 2. Set to a high idle, about 1500rpm, by turning each idle screw about 1/8 or 1/4 turn clockwise. If you have a lumpy tickover and bad pickup try adding some Isopropyl Alcohol to the tank (100ml) to ensure you don't have any carb icing 3. Slacken the cable adjusters by the throttle grip 4. turn the left idle screw bit by bit clockwise until the speed increases slightly, then turn it back until the speed is what it was 5. Repeat 4 on the right to a point that when either side is turned in slightly the idle speed increases slightly 6. Gently turn back each idle screw a little bit by the same amount both sides and repeat until you have the tickover speed you want - about 1200 rpm? 7. Adjust the cable adjusters to give about 2mm slack and check that both butterflys open and close at exactly the same time. Tighten the cable adjuster nuts and double check that the adjustment hasn't altered. 8. Make a cup of tea then go for a ride!
