Morning all... New to this forum but not motorcycles. I was given a 74 TX750 along with a spare engine and having restored a number of bikes over 75 years (the latest a Bultaco 350) but mainly Honda CBX's ( I know these bikes and engines very well).
My restoration is going OK but I find the Yamaha factory manuals compared to the Hondas not so great. Although my TX had low miles it was left outside for a long time. Surprisingly the engine and spare were in great shape and had the latest factory mods (deep sump, balancing mods etc.). I am just finishing up a checkout (a complete teardown) of the spare engine to better understand these bikes. What I find interesting is the weight of these bikes, and no wonder everything is heavy steel! They only weigh 40 lbs less than my CBX 6 cylinder.
Two questions.. 1 Is Speed Sport still around for parts or are there other options?
2 How do these engines run with no engine counterweights, I have read some leave them out.
Thanks.... Doug
