I have purchased and fitted this item from eBay "One Way Bearing Sprag Starter Clutch For Yamaha Drag Star / V-Star / Virago 250" The fixing holes are threaded 8 mm and it is case hardened so they can't be drilled out with an ordinary drill bit. The recess in the alternater rotor measured at .1 mm less than the diameter of the clutch. My idea was to put 3 countersunk Allen screws through from the back of the rotor on the undrilled webs, I then pressed the clutch into the recess to drill through pilot holes, there was a lot more interference than I thought (My measuring tools are not very good) but having started I had to continue it was so hard to press in that I decided to put it on and give it a go. Success cranks up without any rattles. The easiest way to put the rotor/clutch on is to turn the Woodruff key to 12 o'clock and hold the rotor up against the shaft with keyway inline, push gently in against the sprocket, turn the engine over slowly with the Kickstarter ( plugs out) It should slide on, no needs to chamfer the sprocket. The rotor should be heated in the oven before pressing in the clutch.
