Hi to whoever might be reading , I have an early TX with a shot balance chain , I've took the motor out , turned it upside down, removed the deep sump conversion to inspect this as well as the cam chain. Fortunately the cam chain looks & feels ok but the balancer chain feels way to baggy . I've just read the article that appeared in Classic bike in 94 and it suggests there is a replacement DID chain , can anyone furnish me with the correct info so I can try and source one ? . This will be the second one I've owned having given up far too early on the first one , apart from the noise the bike rides great , I'm really looking forward to riding the sorted machine . I have an XS1B , XS650B , TX500A & XS500B (and many other marques & models) all of which are fantastic riders bikes but the 750 has that bit extra .

I'm not sure about the DID replacement but speedandsportinc.com still has 31 original ones in stock.

Thanks for these very useful bits of information. An O6B-1 chain has all the correct dimensions apart from the plate thickness which I'm assuming gives the chain it's strength (as well as pin thickness). If I were clever enough I'd remove the balance shafts completely , might be a bit lumpy but that's character so they say . Thanks again fella's .

It is sweet and the new balancer chain did a wunderful job. Hardly any vibrations and no noise or clatter. The 06B-1 has the right pitch and roller diameter but not the same width. It is about 0,5 mm wider. As a matter of fact, this is the very same as the starter chain. Not heard of anyone whom has tried this.

Had another run on the TX today. Not smoking as much as it did. Not sure the motor sounds too good.

The starter chain is the same type as the balancer chain, just 2 pitches shorter.

The starter chain is the same type as the balancer chain, just 2 pitches shorter. Pitch is indeed the same, but not the width and the thickness of the sideplates. I contacted Tsubaki Europe and they confirmed that the balancer chain for the TX750 is not a "norm" chain. And unfortunately not available anymore from Tsubaki. I would not recommend to use the starter chain for the balancer. It might either brake or strectch since it is not as rigid as the balancer chain.
