Hi, anyone done this before; changing the USA-fitted speedometer with a European speedo with KMH-readings?
I have MPH speedo on my 1973 USA model Yamaha TX750. If I change to the KMH speedo (part.no 3418357042 Speedometer Assembly) do I need to change anything else? E.g. the speedowire and/or the speedo gear drive/gear unit housing/gear meter located on the front wheel, or is these the same parts for both types of speedometer?
My Q re-formulated; is the gear-ratio differencies between MPH and KMH built in the speedo assy itself? There are obvious a final end-gear at the back of the assy, shown on pictures

I bet , its the same. It doesnt make sense to make 2 different speedos when its enough to Chance the display ;-)

Pewe - I agree. There's nothing different in the parts manual either. I'm sure they just changed the dial face.

Also agree. Like most cars these days that have speedos in mph/kph it's probably just a case of different face plates. You could confirm if the part numbers for the hub drive are the same. I'm sure it's the same cable.
