Had another run on the TX today. Not smoking as much as it did. Not sure the motor sounds too good.

More running today. Less smoke, lights and indicators working. Starter clutch playing up, has been starting OK . Just added a couple of pics. As of now, front brake calliper stripped awaiting new seals. Put some new tyres on it, made up some brackets and roughly fitted silencers, repaired and fitted clutch and throttle cables, repaired light switch and re sleeved cables through handlebars. Getting there. Really could do with a seat cover, does anyone know who could supply one? Next starter clutch, ordered one from Argo. More later.

I've found similar starter issues if the battery is on the low side.

Quick update. I have been busy getting the bike ready for the MOT test. That completed yesterday. Now the hurdle that is, Registration. A few hoops to jump through to satisfy the DVLA, that it is what I say it is, has come from where I say it came from, and is as old as I say it is. Once registered I can afix its new UK plates and start riding it. The short ride to the test station went well, felt smooth, felt powerful, if a little hesitant just off tickover. Next job, seat repair. I have added two Triumph type air filters as the bike came without its air filter box, see pictures. More later. Adieu.

Update. Recently got the registration number. Seat has a new cover fitted. Tidied up the rear shocks and mudguard support. Nothing to do now but ride it. First couple of runs, around my area, 25 miles a time. First impression, it's comfy, pulls like a train if you open the throttle, really smooth, as opposed to my 68 Trophy. To say I'm pleased is an understatement, for a bike that was stood as long, nothing is out of the ordinary. Only time and miles will tell.

Hi Paul. I'm in West Yorkshire. You may be familiar with Yorkshire, God grew up here. You have a TX also?

Yes I have some experience of West Yorkshire, No complaints!!!!!, I have owned a TX for 3 years, have carried out a lot of work on the engine, incorporating many of the recommended updates, not however the desirable mods to the crankcase oil ways, I shall have to try to organise a trip to sunny Yorkshire this summer, I live in Norfolk famous for turkeys and lotus's, must be a connection somewhere as Lotus's are often referred to Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious !!!! Hi PAUL. I suppose I could be an honorary Norfolker, we used to holiday in Wells Next the Sea for umpteen years in the sixties. I have visited Bernard Mathews as a small boy, and later to sort out some blast freezers they had on hire. Also I have an aunt who lives in Saxmundahm, next county but who's counting. First saw a TX in Isle of Man 1973. Looked like it came from another planet, I was on a Sunbeam S7 at the time. Bought an XS2 in 73, sold it to get married. Recently a friend bought the TX from a dealer, decided it was too big and heavy for him, offered it to me not running and really untouched. I like them unmolested, shabby chic, its registered and running now, just done 180 miles in last week on shakedown runs, all seems fine. Regards Ian Thompson.
