When reassembling my engine I saw that the camshaft bearing surface is fed oil down from the threaded part of the camshaft holder (tower) stud. The camshaft holder has a drilled hole where the oil can flow on to the bearing surface after travelling down the thread.
This would appear to give minimal lubrication given that there is a washer and nut on top of the stud which would not let a lot of oil through.
I'm thinking about cutting the washer into the shape of the letter C so that more oil can flow down the thread of the stud.
Anyone think this is a good / bad idea ?
