Hi to all! I'm in southern England and new to enjoying the pleasures of TX750 ownership. So far, its been a short, but really enjoyable and very different experience in comparison to other early '70's Japanese bikes I've ridden and now run.
Mine is an all original '73 bike (apart from a replacement seat cover). Its been imported from the USA and is in really quite good shape with around 18,000 miles showing on it, which looks about right for the condition of the cycle parts. It just needs a weekend of deep cleaning to make it shine and sparkle a bit.
The motor (which looks stock) has no engine number stamped on it and has a deep sump. I'm therefore wondering if it may have had a replacement engine at some stage? Perhaps, after the initial motor went south in some way? Its Frame number is in the 5,000 region. Any thoughts on this from the collected wisdom of the forum would be much appreciated!
It smokes a little on one cylinder but as I believe it was standing previously for a while and I'm in no hurry to take it apart, I'd rather run it and just see how it settles down after I've put some miles on it.
Look forward to sharing the wisdom of the forum!

Hi Martin, Nice to have a TX owner nearer to home,I am from King's Lynn in Norfolk, welcome to the interesting world of the TX !!,the fact your engine has no numbers would probably indicate a replacement engine was fitted, likely under warranty, you may also be lucky enough to have many of the engine upgrades including an adjustable balancer chain,if it is of interest to you my email is; pjohnson735@btinternet.com Kind Regards Paul

Hi Paul. Very good to hear from you and likewise, nice to know of another bike on the same island! Much appreciate your contact information and I will email seperately in due course. I bought it, with perhaps the slim hope in mind, that if it had survived intact for this long in reasonable shape - and it had an engine without an engine number, then it might just have some of the upgrades fitted! When the bike is cleaned up a bit and had a few miles put on it (fingers crossed), I will take and post a few pictures of it here. Best regards. Martin.

Hello gents. I've had my tx about 3 months now. It's also a 73 with a deep sump and water cooler fix. Would be great to meet on a run out at some point.

Hi Ben - Welcome. It now looks as if we are up to at least three TX750 owners in roughly the southern half of the UK, with yourself, Paul and myself! It would be interesting to see any pictures of your bike if you have any. I'll forward some of mine and post here (if I can) in due course when I've had the chance to clean the bike up a bit as she still carries the many years of dust from her former Stateside home! Good luck with your own bike! Martin

That is a good plan which I looking at presently, just need to look at some finer points and discuss with Ben & Martin what is possible, Martin and I are worst case scenario around 200 miles apart,Ben is around half way between us,I know in the U.S. this is commute to work distance for some people but over here road travel is a different ball game, however I am sure we will make it !!!
Keep on TX'ing,Regards Paul.
