I am in the process of putting my engine back together but I realized I was absent minded when marking where to put plug number 90338-23001 in the case. Can anyone help with a pic. I've looked at the exploded view and it's not helpful at all - it's randomly placed to the side of the diagram mysteriously floating in the air. Thanks. Russell

It goes into the lower of the 2 holes behind clutch basket. This plug ensures sufficient oil level inside clutch case. Since there is no drain screw, around 250ml oil were left back while you change engine oil. To prevent this, I use the lowest positioned clutch cover screw as clutch drain screw on my motors. I just connect the bottom of this screw bore with clutch case using a Dremel tool.

Argo Does this plug restrict the amount of oil being diverted to the clutch basket? What symptoms would your engine or clutch have if it is not installed? Too much oil and the clutch causing it to stall?
Could this affect wet sumping if the plug was leaking?

This particular plug ensures an oil bath being present inside the clutch case. This is needed first of all for primary drive lubrication. Without the plug installed, oil would leave clutch case towards engine oil sump. Primary gears would run without proper lubrication.
The upper of the both holes behind clutch basket is an overflow hole, which ensures proper oil level in clutch case. Therefore, under normal conditions, there cannot be too much of oil in clutch case.
Generally, this has nothing common with wet sumping issue.
