It is very important to fill all oil channels and bearing surfaces with pressure oil before first start. How to do this?
I filled oil tank with new oil. You must have transmission clutch apart from engine. Oil pump must be assembled.
Then just take a 10 mm socket and an extension. Put this into drill and drive pump axle as long as you can see oil comming from main bearings. You can find drill working quite hard. It certainly would help a lot if you rotate same time crankshaft.
Now engine is well oiled before first start. If you don't do this it takes few hundred crankshaft rounds before dry channels are filled by pressure oil. Easy and cheap way to secure proper initial lubrication.
I hope you will find this helpful.
