so i got this call from a local dealor. parts department, 3rd party of friends has this old bike been in storage since 78 or 79 its clean but dont run , and no title. so im curious. i go have a look . this is what i found. strange old bike that with a carb clean and a good kick the thing fired up. 11000 miles, but looks like 1100 miles. should i ride it or sell to collector, i already have 2 gts1000, xs650, 71 bmw r75,a few dual sports, street legal cr500, Attachments:

Ride it! Check if it has a deep sump and the balancer chain tensioner. If it does, then definitely ride it. If not, well, maybe sell it if you don't want to hunt that stuff down. I think those are the two most important off the upgrades to the 73s.

well the side car went to the bmw for now , it has a fairing. so how do i know or tell if my bike has the tensioner mods or the deep sump

If the bottom of the case extends below the top of the lower frame rails it has the sump extension. You can see what it looks like if you pull up an online parts diagram (#31 in the oil filter page ) tinyurl.com/l65bckf I'm not sure on telling about the balancer. If the engine has no serial number, then it was probably replaced and would have all the updates. The history archive here details what all they improved over time (glad I've got a '74).
