My TX750 is a cafe / brat mix. I currently have the front forks dropped approximately 2 inches, and done the free / wrong way. The fork tubes have been moved up past the triple trees. I do not have too many issues with bottoming out, unless a large pothole is hit. Handling in my opinion has not been negatively affected. Cornering and maneuvering feels smooth. Here is a great link / write-up on how to lower the forks the correct way. The XS650 and TX750 forks are identical, at least my '78 XS650 and '73 TX750 seem to have the same setup. Fork Lowering Write-UpOn top of having the front dropped, I do have drag bars and wider tires.

Have you ever hit the drop sump? Have you fabricated a skid plate or anything?
As I mentioned in the other thread I am toying with the idea of mounting some clip-ons above the triple trees. I think I would have to drop the front fork about 1.5" to do it.
My wife will hate it though, she already slides forward when braking with the stock seat and suspension. It was really bad with clubmans, but the clubmans didn't work for me on this bike anyways.

I have never bottomed any component of the bike out on the road.
I am going to play around with different fork oil weights to find a happy medium. I am still working on some starting issues on the bike, so I haven't spent much time on it lately.
Drag bars help greatly with the sport-style handling, but definitely hurt the comfort or riding the bike longer distances. If you use a pull-back risers with some drag bars, it may help with the comfort factor.
I have adapted to riding my bike how I have it set up, so it's a personal preference.

I just hate how drag bars look. I think ideally on this bike I will end up with brit style short rise bas. I think they would look the best and still be comfortable. I just have a really nice set of Tomaselli clip-ons I want to try.
