what is Your experience With this ignition system? which position do you mean is the best for normal driving. I have had some problems with the electronic unit, after driving up to 130 km the left cylinder suddenly loose the ignition, had to use the stop switch to cut the power and switch it on again after 2 seconds and it work again. after a few minutts driving it happend again. Now i have received a new unit from Germany and hope it will fix the problem.

Volker was killed by motorcycle accident around a year ago but what I've heard of, the family continued running his business.
As goes to ignition units using optical sensors, there aren't any OEMs around. Think on it. Little dirt will make the engine die ... and TX750, especially 73" engines with pressurized oil routed behind ignition case, aren't famous for keeping ignition case clean.

Does anyone out there have the answer for a real quick and easy ignition fix. ie: single contact or single pulse with double output coil, or electronic ignition from XS 400 etc. Has anyone tried something different. I am considering using an old goldwing coil with one set of points or maybe an accuspark with the same coil. Of course you can dump a bunch of cash and have a semi reliable system but avoiding the obvious is why we have TX 750`s!!!!!

Hi,I have used a lumenition system designed for European ford 4 cylinder engine,only because I had this left over from another project,i machined the points cam to a round profile ,the chopper for the lumenition fitted on tightly,then mounted the optical sensor on the backplate,I fitted the amplifier on the battery tray,then wired it up,used a twin output coil from a !970's Kawasaki z1000 (needed to be minimum of 3 ohms resistance),points type.best mod I have done so far.if not having above parts (free) I would have used accuspark (probably one designed for Fiat 126,it's a twin),forgot to say chopper had 4 blades,cut 2 opposite one's off to give wasted spark.retained mechanical advance.not saying you should do this but it worked for me,have covered 1,000 miles with it,no problems.

Thanks for the model info on the Accuspark. I think it may be the most practical/economical option. I was trying to find a 2 cylinder application and the Fiat fits the bill. Thanks.

farmjohn;
Nice option, is the Mallory system reliable? This system would be easier to mount on the TX750.

I'm not sure on the durability since I haven't tried putting one together. Here is another possibility: xs650temp.proboards.com/thread/7899/19-junkyard-electronic-ignitionI'm still hoping to get funding for one of the Sachse systems. I've corresponded with Pamco Pete about his system for the 650s, and while it looks like it should fit on our 750s, he's not sure it will work.

What I have learned since Newtronic ignitions came out for two stroke bikes, never use optical sensors. Also, I haven't seen any OEM using such solution. Furthermore, I won't trust any uncovered electronics inside the engine. If anybody is interested in a high quality fully programmable TCI ignition for TX750, I have one for sell. It's a real 2 channel unit (no wasted spark) coming from an automotive OEM. €250.
