Hi Gonner, Welcome to the site - and greetings from the Midlands, UK. I noticed that a ~GBP1'600 TX750 disappeared off the UK Ebay in the last week or so - are you now the lucky owner? Anyway, have a look at one of the parts suppliers, e.g. www.cmsnl.com - they carry the pages from the parts manuals (exploded parts assembly drawings) to identify the parts offered - these will also give you the original Yam parts numbers especially useful for the smaller components when searching for instance on Ebay. Note that some components are identical to parts used for similar aged Yamaha bikes - e.g. the rear light and bracket, thus at times making these easier to find. Quite a lot of parts available in the US at fair prices, but the postage, import duty & fees are more than challenging to get them to the UK. A few breakers here in the UK carry TX750 parts, but scant offerings. There are electrical diagrams on this site under the "Electrical / Lighting" section - currently the top post. That will maybe get you started until the manual arrives? You may also have spotted that the UK magazine Classical Motorcycle Mechanics (CMM) recently ran a whole series of articles on the TX750 - quite some interesting reading when having one in the garage. Good pics also of course. Replacement OEM exhausts are like hens teeth or worse, originals are often rusty at the rear. A few on Ebay but rather beaten up or very expensive. Go for an aftermarket replacement would be my advice, unless you are gunning for 100% originality. Some posts available in this forum about re-made replacements, but from memory these solutions are prohibitively expensive. Anyway, hope this is of use to you. Henrik

Henrik,Thank you for welcome and replying.Thought I was alone on this Tx forum, wandering around in the ether. The bike was indeed on E-bay,quite near to me.Was intriged as I was looking for a project.Having noted the negative points on wiki, established that this bike had the deep sump and adjustable balancer, made a bid and was in my garage within a few hours. The idea is to make it look presentable, not too blingy.First establishing whether the engine works.Although the clocks say nearly 8000 miles, and has original front tyre,no wear on front disc,it has been mullered in a few areas, ie sump plug glued in,no thread and other oddities.
Found the link to wiring,Ta for direction.I use CMNL lots to find part numbers, then goggle them but find sometime it is difficult to track on the fiche certain items.Just found that steering damper ,whats that all about? Not found the plastic trim that is screwed to the outer air box cover, missing that. I do realise that peeps have lives to live and Forums are old hat but for me faceebook ect,is not for me.So a Forum member I am... John down south

Hi Gonner & welcome to the site
I think you'll find that people drop in & out of the forum so don't worry if no one answers for a day or two.....
There is plenty of info here anyway, there are also plenty of challenges with these bikes, & as Henrik says getting spares also, but they are endearing so enjoy your project, Roy

I've also found that many parts from other Yams of the era are inter-changeable - e.g. the rear sprocket on my bike was for a TX/XS500 and the front for an XS650 Bob
