Hello. Well, I've owned my 73 TX for about 6 yrs? I stumbled across it by accident on craigslist. I'm a Triumph buff by nature, but always had a warm spot in my heart for Yamaha. My first bike was a "top of the line" 1966 305 cc Big Bear scrambler that I bought off my roommate;s brother. It was kind of crappy but it was my first bike and has a special place in my life. Glad to have gotten rid of it! Then I picked up a 1968 Triumph Trophy that I wish I held onto. Got married and got rid of it in 1975. Two blunders! Swore off bikes until @ 1995 when all my friends started "riding again". Picked up a 1977 XS 750. Darn good bike but had NO "class". Bought a 1996 Triumph Thunderbird, then a 1977 Bonneville, then a Rocket lll. Saw the TX for sale in a front yard and had to get it not ever remember seeing one. Looked good and sort of ran. Then I bought another one from Philadelphia. Made one really good one and sold the other. The TX behaved well until about 2 yrs ago when it decided to stop starting. Has to be an electrical issue. Nearly impossible to kick start and the electric start quit on me. Has sat dormant for @ 2 years, now and tomorrow I plan on getting into it. Wish me luck. Was really a pretty nice bike when it ran. Completely stock. I did add the larger sump case to the bottom that the local Yamaha dealer still had on his shelf. Dealer has since gone belly-up after being in business since the 60's! And that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
