Just bought a 73 TX750 maroon which I always thought it was a 74 paint/color scheme but it looks like Yamaha released that on the 2nd half of 1973. Is that correct?
Goo to be here!

Welcome Chaves, If it is maroon with white text and thin horizontal pinstripes, then it should be a 1974 TX750A. Mike

mike324 that's what I thought but even the Yamaha microfiche shows both schemes (gold with a swoosh and maroon) on the 73 model.

Hi Chaves, I see what you mean. Just had a look at the microfiche where they show both tank styles for both years. I still think based on advertising photos of the 74 500, 650A, and 750A that the similar basic non-swish graphics was a 74 look. I did check the microfiche for other 650 tank accuracy and noticed a number of errors. For example, the 74 650A which I believe came in a plum colour showed a tank with the 1976 snazzy graphics and French Blue paint. Perhaps the microfiche are not accurate. Also, is it possible that you have a 74 tank and side covers on a 73 registered bike? The main thing is that you have a very nice looking and rare TX750 as shown in your photo. I always liked the 73 swoosh graphics and have seen some nice green and dark red ones which always seem to be non North American bikes. I believe the tanks may have been larger for the European market too, but I cannot say that with confidence. Perhaps someone with more tank knowledge can chime in here. Enjoy your bike! Mike
