74 model. Struggling to get the engine out of the frame. Do I need to remove the simp or can it be done with it on.
Tips appreciated

Hi, my comment got lost. If your engine has the deep sump, you`ll have to take that off. If not, it should come out on the right side after you removed the engine brackets. Good luck!

Yes, the sump extension needs to be removed first. When I pulled my engine I put the cover plate back on the case after taking off the sump before removing the engine just to protect the inner workings.

Sump removed. Do I need to take off the piston head too. Struggling for clearance.

What do you mean by piston head? If you mean the head cover you can`t get that off. Remove the front and rear brackets and by pulling the engine by the kicker you can maneuver it out to the right side. Be prepared it`s heavy.

Check the black circles. Remove the triangles.

Oh yeah. Took those off. Have moved the engine up and forward. The taco cable mount at the top of the engine catches on the frame. Have tried laying the bike over. Same result.

Good evening,
with the help of 3 slats I found a way to get the engine easily out of the frame without damaging frame or engine.
See pics.
