lol! That is a good idea. I hadn't thought of testing for leaks before mounting. Going to rebuild the carbs with the boy in the next few days.

A lot of work has taken place but I haven't taken a lot of pictures. I started putting together some videos but I failed to record any critical aspect of the build and simply have a lot of me talking but I'll finish putting it together anyway. The engine is back in the frame, although I forgot to replace the oil pan gaskets when it was out. I also didn't look into the clutch plates but I figured I can still do that when the bike is in the frame. I just had muscle to help me so I jumped at the chance. In a lot of ways the bike is looking like a bike again. Carbs are rebuilt and I test installed them to get the fuel lines right. I will test them for leaks outside of the bike Gas tank has some loose rust in it. I'm going to need to figure out how to best solve that. Leaning towards stone remover. Ran some of the control cables and put the clutch in backwards. I figured the metal bend went on the lever side, but it goes on the engine side, so after thinking I needed some replacement parts I realized I just need to turn it around. Getting close to seeing if we have a runner. I pretend like that is the end of the project but then I have: Brakes Suspension Electronics testing But we are getting to a major milestone anyway.

Well, I have a few videos up now. The rebuild has gone pretty smoothly. Besides almost breaking my ankle from trying to kick start the bike without setting the timing things have gone pretty well.
I had to put the back bumper assembly and rear wheel on 5 or 6 times to get the order of operations correct.
I put on new MC, Brake lines, and Caliper as they were all rusted out and in horrible shape.
She started up once I got the timing set after only about 4 kicks and once I dialed things in she starts on by the second. The tires are 15 year old (but hardly used) so I need to replace those before really going a-cruising but we are near the end. Hoping for the first around the block ride today or tomorrow once I confirm the clutch isn't glued together and get the chain on.

Thanks for the videos, you guys had a great time! Well didn't make AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days with the bikes due to a comedy of errors at the shop where I was getting the tires on. But the bike is back together and running nicely. Here's a playlist of some of the adventures I have had: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxmB5Vp83irVTC7lXpuO5ufHZukU9h0Tg

Well...After about 10 miles on the bike I thought I should double check the valve adjustments. Good thing I did. Left Exhaust was full of glitter. I know most motors aren't supposed to generate glitter. Are these motors different I reached in to check the adjuster screw and the nut was gone and the threads were blown out, it pulled right out. So I'm off to the internet to buy new adjuster screws and lifter arms. Not sure what could have caused this. Is it just because the lock nut wasn't tight enough or is there something else I should look into?

Pulled the motor and replaced the rocker arm and tappet screw. Tried getting the motor back in and the guy who was helping me lacked a certain level of finesse So I've got a bit of paint to touch up then get the motor back in the frame. Hoping to get some break in time before the Cleveland DGR.

Repainted, got the motor back in the frame. Got everything hooked back up. Starter motor still doesn't turn the engine after rebuilding it, which is a bummer.
My exhaust is totally blown out so I was going to attempt to get some Stainless scrubbers or fiberglass in there to provide some level of noise dampening. pics coming soon

Didn't post any new pictures but my bike should be in the vintage section of the Cleveland IMS this weekend if anyone is in town.
