Thought I would share a picture of my nearly ready bike after a 2.5 year complete rebuild. Got it running last weekend but the clutch push rod seal is leaking big time and I haven't finished the brakes yet so she hasn't been on the road yet.

Hi Jay, looks awesome! Has this version originally have chrome plated air filter case? Is that the original paint on the tank or you got it repainted? Keep posting pics if you can, good luck!
Cheers, Greg

Hi Greg Not sure about about the chromed airbox as this is how it came with the bike. I'm sure I have seen other chromed ones as well though. I had the bike repainted in the optional (for some countries) green color. It looks darker in the picture than it actually is. When I bought the bike the engine was disassembled as the adjustable balanceer shaft had come loose and ruined the thread in the crankcase. Luckily I work for an engineering company so our machine shop guys fixed it for me. I totally stripped the bike, painted the frame, re-chromed many parts, found some good mufflers in the USA, added lots of new parts, put new bearings and rings in the engine and then put it all back together (nearly). I'm a bit mystified by the push rod oil seal leak as the seal is new. The problem is that the seal has an inside diameter of 8mm and the push rod is 7.94mm so it is a real loose fit - thus the oil leak.
Will post some more pictures when she is 100% complete and on the road.
By the way - I may have found an easy fix for the dreaded starter clutch problems. I replaced the original with a Kawasaki GPZ550 unit. It's a straight fit with no adaptation needed at all. So far (about 20 starts) it works great.
Cheers - JT

JT, I haven`t gotten to the pushrod yet, so I can`t tell you much about it as I`m stuck at the head still, see my other post Perhaps the seal is for the other type of pushrod? There are two versions at least I know of. I invested to the Argo starter clutch system, I at least I wanted to to save some time on that, there are so many other things to take care of on this machine. Good luck with your bike and keep us posted!

Looks nice, and good tip on the starter clutch for those unable to get Argo's mod.

Spent a lot of money so far on mine so with a view to keeping costs down I investigated your starter clutch & found part # is 13193 - 1002 which is fitted to many Kawasakis......got a really good one from a GPZ305 quite cheaply which is now fitted & works a treat, so thanks for that JT

I am going to try this option. Is it still running strong? Any issues?

Although the unit I fitted was a good one, I don't know how long it had been in-situ so eventually it started slipping again (weak springs???) so went for Argo's unit which is far better........

Thanks for the followup. Argo is currently not able to ship anything from Estonia so I bought a NOS Kawasaki one for next to nothing on Ebay. Gonna give it a shot.

Curious on how well your new Kawasaki starter clutch is working. It could be a good option right now.

Scott, it mounted up properly without any issues. I have the crankcase side open right now so I haven't had an opportunity to test it out. I can let you know once I have everything back together.
