Saw the TX on a well known auction site & fell in love with it........I've read loads of stuff on it & I know getting parts will be tricky in the UK, but I didn't care!! (Need a manual & parts book now too! there's none on the forum??) It arrived last night & had a look over it today.....really pleased. I don't think it's been on the road for a while (came from Wisconsin) & not sure yet if any of the mods have been done, though it doesn't have a deep sump or an original fuel tank, but the rest looks to be pretty original & in good nick! Another thing is it's had a single carb conversion (not a bodge job), can anyone throw any light on that? (will see if I can attach a photo) cheers Roy Attachments:

Hi Roy
Welcome to the forum - a small group but dedicated to the cause !
Never seen or heard of single carb conversion but it looks good.
Send me your email address and I will send a parts manual to you.
There is a hard copy workshop manual available from a seller here in New Zealand who advertises on Ebay a lot. It' supposedly a Yamaha factory manual but I also have an old "Cycelserv" manual and it's identical to that. Not totally comprehensive but better than nothing.
Cheers - JT

Interesting carb conversion for sure. At least it eliminates the syncing issue.

True, wasn't sure if it was a 'known' conversion because it looks professionally done..........

Your post was dated Feb. 20 2017. Does that single carb conversion work?

It came with an original 38mm cv carb on it & I could not get it to run properly at all (can't see it ever did?), so bought a 39mm Keihin/PWK which I then had to get to fit, play with jetting etc........I found I could get it to run but plugs always showed running rich no matter what size jet or where the air screw was! Then I found something online where a Kawasaki 750 twin had been converted to single (32mm) carb so got me thinking maybe I should try a smaller carb........
Literally fitted 34mm round slide (after struggles finding a good size rubber that fit to carb & manifold) today & fired it up, wouldn't run at first till I turned airscrew in (fully in the end) & it ran......think I need to play with the jetting again..........will let you know
