Trying to get some idea on what to check next. Bike starts idles but when given any throttle, the smallest amount it stalls
125 psi x 2 Checked float levels Timing is spot on with timing light checked for carb holder leaks checked valve clearance
Going to check vaccum sync next. Also thinking maybe the cam timing is off? Is there a way to check valve timing through the valve windows?

Hi - when was the last time you completely cleaned your carbs? Sounds like a carb issue. You have the choke off when you give it a twist, right? Just asking bc Ive done it before.
Do you have pods or original air filter?

Carbs were just cleaned, new gaskets. New diaphrams also, thought those were the problem but guess not. I haven't synced the carbs just eye balled them. Yeah choke off, have pods but were not on.

You can check the cam timing with a degree wheel and indicator, but it looks like a vacuum leak. I'd re-check the diaphrams to see if one got pinched on install. Also, have you ohmed the ign. coils? Does it have a fat, blue spark? Are you getting 12v at the coil feed wires?

Getting back to troubleshooting this bike after 2 years. Bike does the same thing 2 years later and with electronic ignition now. Will idle but any throttle and it dies.
Is 125psi enough compression? Both cylinders measure 125psi. The coils are left 4.3/13.8k ohm, right 4.4/14.3k ohms. Spark looks good and while it was idling checked with timing light and it's dead on F.
I sprayed some throttle body cleaning around the carb boots while it was running and nothing so don't think it's a leak. I'm gonna go through the carbs again, throw em in ultrasonic, check floats, bench sync, etc.
I am at 7,000 feet but don't think that matters at this point.

I went for a short ride yesterday, first time it's been on the road since 2012, excited. After chasing a lean condition (idles but dies with any throttle) I think my problem was one or combination of
1. I found #35 pilots in there, I always thought it had stock jetting. Replaced with #45s
2. My fuel level was low during some of this troubleshooting. Used transparent bowl method vs surface measurement.
3. New JBM carb boots.
4. Did ultrasonic bath again in pine-sol
Now for the fun piddly stuff
- Find original handle bars or something similar - New grips - Rebuild or replacement master cylinder - Looks like it needs fork seals / oil - tires "look" good but they have been on there for 10+ years. - tune carbs for 5000-10000 feet if needed - RPM gauge does not work. Background on the gauge is warped - Maybe do butterfly seals if I want to punish myself.
