Try to put them in the freezer and install them quickly while cold- worked on my Honda..

The second set has the correct part number and should work. Your carbs haven't been swapped by any chance have they? I can't recall where I last ordered mine, the freezer trick is certainly worth a try.

Your TX shall have Mikuni BS 38 carburators, you can buy spare parts and repair kit from mikes xs they are specialist on Yamaha XS and TX 650. Many spare part on 650 is simular as 750 spare parts. see web adresse. mikesxs.comwww.mikesxs.net/products-36.html#products

There were mant different BS38 carbs used by Yamaha, Honda, and Kawasaki - each have slight variations. For Yam, the XS650s used them all through the 70s, then went to the BS34s around 1980. The XS750s had the BS34s. If you look on the XS650 site you will find a lot of info about them. xs650temp.proboards.com/

Yes, look like the original models. Mikuni went through several different iterations of the BS38s - thr 78-79 version was by far the most efficient and reliable. I have a set Id part with if you are interested. I also have several sets of the originals if anyone else is in need.

Had another run on the TX today. Not smoking as much as it did. Not sure the motor sounds too good.
