Looking to add some highway legs to my TX750, so I can enjoy lower RPM's at highway cruising speeds. I was temped to pull the 36T rear sprocket off off my XS650 and try it. Anyone have any input on this subject? I have attached a gearing chart that may help anyone looking to play around with different configs.

If it is any help I have been running my TX with 18 tooth gearbox sprocket/40 tooth rear sprocket, this gives nice cruising ability at 65/70 mph, takes the edge of acceleration compared with using 17/40 sprockets before,I weigh 120 kg (264 lbs) and ride solo, main reason I did this was I felt bike undegeared with 17/40 set-up,cheapest option was 18 tooth front/std 40 tooth rear, chain length not altered.sorry I cannot quote rpm/speed data as engine out having most of the upgrades done, hope this is of some help. Regards Paul.

As I generally like the idea of overdrive gearing for less rpm/fuel consumption at cruising speeds, I did this first on my Suzuki T500 and after positive results, also on the TX. On the TX, I have 5th overdrive + 18/40 gearing, which makes nice touring at altered rpm. At 100kph I have around 3600 rpm in 5th, this is 400 rpm less compared to stock. Power dropped from 36 HP to 31 HP at this speed. There is no significant loss in torque, probably only few Nm.

Had another run on the TX today. Not smoking as much as it did. Not sure the motor sounds too good.

I tried 34 tooth rear off my XS650, it was OK but not ideal, a bit too overgeared. In the end I went halfway with a 37 tooth rear sprocket. I had to make this as couldn’t find a 37t for the TX or XS.
